Summer is getting closer and you need to start registering for camps and activities for your children. Below is a list of some great local camps that will keep your kids stimulated, entertained and exhausted ALL summer!

Building Blocks-Summer Camps


Our Preschool Summer Camp program for children 3 -5 years old is offered 3 half-days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 19 – August 30. Children will enjoy learning about topics that interest them throughout the summer while engaging in weekly Nature Walks at the Highland State Recreation Area, Open Ended Art Projects, Water Fun Days, Hands-On Math and Science Activities, Journaling, Gardening, Field Trips, and more. The cost is $75.00 per weekly session. Registration is on a first come first serve basis with limited space available. Register early to ensure a space for your child. Indicate the sessions you wish to enroll your child on our registration form. Our Full-Day Preschool program options are also available throughout the summer.

Our School Age Creative Art and Outdoor Adventure Camp program is for children completing Kindergarten through age 12. Children can attend 2, 3, 4, or 5 Full-Days throughout the summer from June 11 – August 30 between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Cost is $42.00 per day or $175.00 per week. Summer Campers will create visual art projects exploring a variety of materials and techniques: Creative Art, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Pottery, Printmaking, 3D Art, Woodworking, etc. A daily GREEN HOUR® will provide children with unstructured play and interaction with their natural environment (Highland State Recreation Area). Children will enjoy weekly field trips to local county, state and metro parks for a variety of eco-adventures and environmental education programs. It is these traditional camp elements that we emphasize and integrate with our high quality programming that ensures Building Blocks Creative Art and Outdoor Adventure summer campers will have a well rounded camp experience that builds memories of a lifetime.

Friends Preschool and Kindergarten-Summer Camp


Friends has a wide variety of Summer Camps to offer this summer. Our staff is licensed, well trained and ready to provide your child opportunities to learn through play.

Camps are designed for children ages 2 1/2 -6 years.
All Camps will run from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Kids will need to bring their own lunch.

Safety Camp - June 18th thru June 22nd - $100
Children will learn about safe side adults, home, bike safety and emergencies. A great opportunity to equip your child with the skills they need to stay on the safe side.

Wilderness Week - June 25th thru June 28th - $80
Join us as we explore the outdoors and learn about camping, canoeing, hiking and more. A tent set up throughout the week and daily "campfires" will bring the outdoors in!

Crazy Carnival Week - July 9th thru July 12th - $80
A week filled with carnival inspired games, crafts and food! There will be daily contests and games where children can participate and win prizes.

Camp X-Periment - July 16th - July 20th - $100
Children will participate in creating concoctions, discovering magnet fields and participate in a variety of scientific experiments.

Bug Bonanza - July 23rd thru July 26th - $80
Learn all you need to know about bugs and insects with hands on activities. Children will observe an ant farm and learn about different insects and their habitats.

Wacky Water Week - August 6th thru August 9th - $80
Dive into our weekly water week while we experiment with water; learn about lakes and oceans, what lives in them and the importance of safety around water. Bring your suit on our last day, which will be filled with wet wacky fun.

Karen's School of Dance


Looking for a fun summer activity this year? Want to keep up with your technique that you’ve developed throughout the school year? Would you like to try a new style, or even try dance for the very first time? Look no further than the Karen’s School of Dance summer program! KSD offers a wide variety of classes and camps to fit the needs of any dancer. Our
summer program runs for 4 weeks, so it’s perfect for trying something new before enrolling in the fall. Our Intensives are great for dancers who are looking to improve technique, build strength, and maintain stamina. The dance camps offer a variety of styles to dancers for a well-rounded experience that is sure to please. We also offer once-a-week 45 minute classes, similar to those offered in our regular season for dancers to keep the fun going.

Ballet Intensive - offered Mondays/Wednesdays from 9:00am - 12:00pm
and 12:30pm - 3:30pm. This intensive will concentrate on ballet technique,
classes in ballet, Pointe, character, variations, folk, partnering, and
conditioning. This intensive is being offered to ages 9 and up.

Dance Intensive/Camp - offered Mondays/Thursdays 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Tuesdays 9:30am - 12:30pm.This intensive will concentrate on Jazz and Ballet with classes in Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, conditioning, and choreography. This intensive is being offered to ages 7-10 and 11 and up.

Pom Camp - offered Wednesdays 11:15am - 12:15pm. This camp incorporates warm up and stretch, pom/dance basics, kick line instruction, precise pom arm movements, and original routine choreography. All ages are invited to participate.

Gymnastics Camp - Offered for ages 7 – 10 and 11 and up. Times to be
determined. Students will learn basic tumbling tricks such as a forward rolls, bridges, cartwheels, handstands, back walkovers along with other tricks leading up to and including back handsprings and aerials. This camp ensures that students learn the proper warm up to prevent injury.

Summer Camp

Kids in Motion Pediatric Therapy Services located at 2636 S Milford Rd in Highland is offering Summer Day Camp for 2 weeks this summer, the dates are:  July 16th-July 20 from 9am-3pm and August 13-August 17 from 9am -3pm. Activities include:Obstacle Course, outdoor play, swimming, arts and crafts, story time, social interaction, speech and language groups.  All activities are therapy based to include:  Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy.  For ages 4 to 14 years old.

Milford Co-Op Preschool- Summer Camps


June 18-21, 9:00a-12:00p, Theatre Camp (Ms Joyce)
Each day Mrs. Joyce will guide your child learning about different types of dramatic performance...Acting, Puppetry, Dance. Each session will be based on a book that will be the basis for our actual performance as we create sets, costumes and practice our performance. Our final day, we will put the finishing touches on our performance for a presentation on stage in the gym for the family to experience.

June 25-28, 9:00a-12:00p Tinkering Camp I – (Ms Joyce)
Take it apart! Put it together! Recreate into something new! We will explore and create as we take apart electronics….reinvent new machines….play with gravity….A real hands on experience for that future engineer.

July 23-26, 9:00a-12:00p, Wild, Wild West Camp – (Ms Susan)
Cowboys and cowgirls (ages 3-6) are WANTED in the Wild, Wild West! Our adventure begins with a Cowboy/girl makeover and a lesson on cowboy/girl lingo. From there we’ll enjoy digging for gold, square dancing, lassoing animals, riding stick ponies, and covered wagon rides. There will even be a few suprises!!! You don’t want to miss this WILD adventure!

July 30-Aug 2, 9:00-12:00, Recycling Arts Camp (Ms Joyce)
A fun lesson and experience in reduce, reuse and recycle. Through the use of art and various activities, children will be encouraged to reuse and recycle many different items thought of as junk.

August 6-9, 9:00-12:00, Art Camp – (Ms Susan)
No cookie cutter crafts here! Instead we will empower your youngster ( ages 3-6) to express themselves through art in a creative way! At Art Camp we give your child a chance to explore, experience and create using different art mediums. You child will leave each day with confidence and pride in themselves as an artist!

August 13-16, 9:00-12:00, Tinkering Camp II-Robots – (Ms Joyce)
Robots! Yes Robots! We will explore and create different kinds of moving and creative robots repurposing all kinds of parts and pieces! But the greatest part is figuring out how to make it all work…tinkering! Some of our projects will include: A robot sculpture, a drawing robot, hovercraft, marshmallow shooter and more. (This is a great camp to follow Tinkering I-June 25. But, you may enroll for this camp without having experienced Tinkering I.)
